Euro-Mediterranean Monitor: The occupation escalated its crimes against the Palestinians in Khan Yunis with the aim of forcibly displacing them

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor confirmed that the Israeli occupation has escalated the killing, abuse and destruction of Palestinians, their homes and property in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, as part of the ongoing crime of genocide since last October 7, with the aim of forcibly displacing them.
The Observatory said in a statement today that the occupation’s torturous measures affect about 90,000 people, in addition to more than 400,000 internally displaced persons seeking shelter in 24 schools and refugee centers, including three hospitals, indicating that it documented dozens of cases of the occupation forces abusing those displaced during their forced displacement from Khan Yunis camp and several areas close to the western coastal areas.
The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory reported that its teams monitored the occupation forces erecting checkpoints on Al-Bahr Street, west of Khan Yunis camp, and closing all the side streets that residents were using during the past days, explaining that the displaced are being forced to leave their luggage and possessions while males over 15 years old are examined via eye print with cameras designated for this purpose, some of them are allowed to pass while others are arrested after being forced to strip naked and detained in an open yard filled with rainwater.
The Observatory stated that these abusive practices come two days after the International Court of Justice issued a decision to impose temporary measures against “Israel”, the occupying power, for violating its obligations under the Genocide Convention, and the necessity of not forcibly displacing people in the Gaza Strip.
Euro-Med warned that the expansion of the scope of forced displacement from Khan Yunis coincides with a dangerous escalation in the occupation’s attacks on the city, including the destruction of entire residential squares and the siege of hospitals and institutions inside which tens of thousands of displaced people are exposed to direct targeting, noting that cemeteries have been erected over the past three days as mass grave yards in the Al-Amal neighborhood, Khan Yunis camp, and Nasser Medical Complex so as to bury hundreds of martyrs.
The Observatory stressed the need to stop the violations of the Israeli occupation in forced displacement, which constitutes a war crime, stressing that the decision of the Court of Justice to impose temporary measures on the occupying entity and to demand that the Zionist entity prevent acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, requires international pressure on Israel to stop the ongoing crimes against the Palestinians.
