EU condemns the Israeli entity’s legalization of 5 outposts in West Bank

BRUSSELS,  Jun.29,(ST)– The European Union (EU) has strongly condemned the announcement by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich regarding the legalization of five settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank, labeling it as another deliberate attempt to undermine peace efforts.

Peter Stano, the spokesperson for the European Union, stated in a press release today that EU leaders at this week’s European Council meeting denounced the Israeli government’s decisions to expand illegal settlements across the occupied West Bank. They urged “Israel” to reverse these decisions immediately.

The European Union reiterated its adherence to its common position and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, affirming that it will not recognize any changes to the 1967 borders unless agreed upon by both parties.

Emphasizing the necessity to halt actions that undermine the Palestinian Authority, the EU called on “Israel” to release withheld tax revenues and take necessary measures to ensure the continuity of correspondent banking services between Israeli and Palestinian banks.

The European Union reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to a permanent and sustainable peace based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and stressed the two-state solution as the basis for resolving the conflict.
