EU Commissioner: The European Union will not impose ban on Russian oil and gas

EU Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell has confirmed that the European Union will not impose a ban on Russian oil and gas due to its heavy dependence on this substance. He explained that the import of Russian oil forms a small part for the US and the country almost doesn’t need it but that’s not the case for the EU as Russia is a big supplier of energy over here.

On the other hand, Borrell considered that imposing a flight ban over Ukraine would lead to a third world war, pointing out that NATO would not interfere in Ukraine because it was not a member of it.

US President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday the imposition of a ban on the country’s imports of Russian oil and gas.
