Sweida (ST): The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida estimated the governorate’s total production of peach fruits for the current season at 1047 tons.
The director of Sweida Agriculture, Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to news reporter today: “The production for this season is acceptable and there is an expansion in the areas planted with peaches, which reached 5010 dunums, compared to 4800 dunums during the last season.
Hamed pointed out that the peach trees are concentrated in the high mountainous areas, especially the Dahr al-Jabal region in addition to the western region, indicating that the total number of peach trees in the governorate is about 195,000 trees, of which the fruit is more than 142 thousand trees.
Last season, Sweida Governorate produced about 953 tons of peach fruits.
