ANKARA, (ST)- Authorities of the Turkish regime have issued arrest warrants for 82 military personnel over alleged links to preacher Fathallah Gulen whom the Turkish regime accuses of instigating a failed coup in July 2016.
According to the Turkish pro-government Anadolu News Agency, the arrest warrants were issued against 82 soldiers, including seventy who are still on duty, adding that 63 of these soldiers had already been arrested in an operation that included 39 provinces.
Since the failed coup attempt, the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan has launched a nationwide crackdown against its opponents, under various pretexts, as part of the policy of silencing and suppressing freedoms. About 80,000 people have been arrested and about 150,000 workers have been dismissed from work in different Turkish civil and military institutions.
