DAMASCUS, (ST) – The General Director of the Development and Promotion of Syrian Exports Authority, Ihab Ismander said that currently work is going on to develop a strategy that includes three axes to enhance the competitiveness of exports and the development of commercial performance and up to improve the quality of technical services provided by the Authority, stressing that it will be implemented within a period not exceeding 3 to 5 years.
In a statement to local press, Mr. Ismander said that enhancing the competitiveness of the export sector starts through the development of programs to increase the competitiveness of the Syrian companies and choose from 30 to 40 distinct commodity from the export-oriented sectors of the priority of the production of small and medium enterprises and support will be provided to them through the mechanisms of new support.
“We have serious attempt to support the participation of the Exports Authority in international exhibitions and we seek to gain the identity of the Syrian products of export-oriented through obtaining a license or the name of one of the major international companies for granting the right to leave the manufacturing license to national companies that may export to foreign markets,” Mr. Ismander explained.
“In addition to the establishment of the Syrian Home in many international markets, particularly Russia and Iran, pointing out that the work is going on to formulate a national program to help in the training of cadres capable to understand and to follow up matters of foreign trade and export to improve the entry of the national product to international markets,” he added.
In his statement, the underlined that the authority is working on the development of trade performance for Syria and by assisting exporters to provide the best deals for them to participate in international tenders and providing sources provide them with the pre-requisites of production at affordable prices, provided that it is associated with the legislations and the laws of export markets targeted, particularly standards specifications, commercial standards and customs restrictions.
