Emirati newspapers: President Al-Assad’s visit to UAE establishes a new era of joint cooperation

Today’s Emirati newspapers focused in their editorials on the important visit that President Bashar al-Assad paid to the United Arab Emirates yesterday, and the talks he held with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

 The two Emirati newspapers, Al-Ittihad and Al-Watan, confirmed that the talks between President Al-Assad and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed reflected the level of progress of brotherly relations between Syria and the UAE, and the joint keenness to strengthen and develop them in various fields, through cooperation at all levels.

Al-Ittihad newspaper, under the title “Syria’s stability,” described the talks between President al-Assad and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed as important, which reflected the level of progress in brotherly relations between the UAE and Syria, and highlighted the UAE’s firm position to support and stabilize Syria.

The newspaper stressed that the stability of Syria constitutes a basic pillar of Arab national security, hence the UAE is working hard to help Syria build a new phase of development and prosperity.

The newspaper pointed out that the UAE is establishing the stage for Syria’s return to its Arab surroundings, stressing that the future of Syria as an Arab country will be through an Arab regional solution supported by international efforts that preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

At the end of its editorial, the newspaper stated that the UAE has always emphasized political solutions to the crisis in Syria, which preserve Syria’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, in the interest of the Syrian people.

In the same context, and under the title “Historical, Consistent Support for Syria,” the Emirati newspaper, “Al-Watan”, confirmed that President Al-Assad’s visit and his talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed establish a new era of hope, cooperation and strong cohesion.

The newspaper noted the UAE’s policy in supporting countries that are going through difficult circumstances to move towards better conditions.

The newspaper pointed out that Syria is one of the countries in which the UAE is always working to support its security, stability and territorial integrity, and to strengthen brotherly relations with it, which was confirmed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed during the talks with President Al-Assad.

The newspaper stated that the UAE’s continuous relief support to the Syrian brothers as a result of the earthquake disaster constituted a lifeline to alleviate the suffering of those affected.

The newspaper stressed the UAE’s firm position in terms of its support for Syria in restoring its full sovereignty over its lands and protecting its stability and national role, through an objective approach away from external interference.

 Moreover, Emirati journalist Muhammad Khalfan Al-Sawafi wrote in an article published by the Emirati news website “Al-Ain Gate” that President Al-Assad’s visit to the UAE is important in the light of the successive and rapid developments that the Middle East region is experiencing and witnessing as regards to improving relations and calming tensions between some of its countries.

 Al-Sawafi said that these multiple paths for calming and clearing the atmosphere in the region make the Arab openness to Syria an important and necessary matter, and may even have priority over some other paths.”

 For his part, the Emirati journalist, Muhammad Taqi, described President al-Assad’s visit to the UAE as crucial and pivotal in these circumstances, and that it will establish a new phase in bilateral relations and at the Arab level as well.
