DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The elimination of terrorism would but contribute to the success of a political track in Syria, underscored H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad.
Receiving the visiting Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, here Monday, President Al-Assad voiced the Syrian People appreciations for the stances taken by the Sultanate of Oman regarding Syria.
The Syrian People do welcome the sincere efforts exerted by the Sultanate of Oman as to help the Syrians to realize their aspirations: ending their sufferings from terrorism, and safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of Syria.
The visiting Omani Minister reiterated the keenness of the Sultanate of Oman on the stability and integrity of Syria, pointing out that Oman is to spare no efforts as to help in finding a solution to end the crisis in Syria.
The talks dealt with the standing brotherly bilateral relations in light of both countries’ leadership to continue coordination and cooperation in bolstering of these relations in the interest of security and stability of the region as well as in safeguarding of the interests of the brotherly people of Syria and the Sultanate of Oman.
The talks also touched upon the conditions in the region, particularly the war against terrorism in Syria and the presented ideas regionally and internationally to help in finding a solution for the crisis in Syria.
Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem reviewed on August 5, 2015, with his Omani counterpart Yousef bin Alawi the crisis in Syria and the international and regional roles in it.
The two sides agreed that the time has come to unify constructive efforts to put an end to the crisis in Syria on the basis of meeting Syrians’ aspirations and preserving Syrian territories’ unity and sovereignty.
They are going to continue cooperation and coordination to achieve the common goals of the Syrian and Omani peoples and leaderships.
On October 1, 2015, Minister al-Moallem also met Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi, discussing with him the efforts being exerted with some Arab and international countries to support Syria in combating terrorism in preparation for a political solution.
The Omani minister expressed readiness to visit Damascus to help in reaching a solution for the crisis in Syria that preserves its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
Oman’s Foreign Minister has affirmed his country’s firm stance condemning terrorism in Syria, indicating that terrorism poses threat to international and regional security.
Addressing the 70th UN General Assembly October, 2015 , Yousif Bin Ali called for supporting the efforts of the UN Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and restoring stability and peace to Syria.
