Elderly Palestinians: We are living a new Nakba in Gaza

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The elderly Palestinian woman, Fadiya al-Hamidi, who experienced the Nakba in 1948, was displaced for the sixth time inside Gaza Strip in search of lost safety, in the light of the intensity of the Israeli occupation bombing.

She moves from one tent to another with her family and grandchildren, to whom she always speaks about her birthplace and childhood in the occupied city of Beer Al-Sabe’, and now, she is living with them the chapters of a new Nakba, that is cruler and more severe than the Nakba of 1948.

Al-Hamidi, who is over 90 years old, told SANA reporter: The Zionist gangs displaced us from Beer Al-Sabe’. I was 15 years old at the time that these gangs burned the villages and the cities and committed massacres, just as is happening today in Gaza Strip, 76 years after the Nakba.

“The Zionist gangs have burned and bulldozed my house in Beit Hanoun, North of Gaza Strip, just as they burned our brick and straw house and our farms during the Nakba”, she added.

The elderly Palestinian woman, whose age is older than the occupation entity, clarified that the feeling of returning to Beer Al-Sabe’ has always haunted her, but this time she hopes to return to Beit Hanoun and the place where she lived eight months ago as a first stage, but the occupation refuses her return, as is the case with tens of thousands of Palestinians who are prevented from returning to their cities and villages in the northern Gaza Strip.

For his part, Salem Abu Aql, says: “During the Nakba, I was a child. I remember the features of our land, and our home despite the long period that has passed since of the Nakba. Today, again, we are living a new Nakba in Gaza, staying in tents without food or water, in conditions that are more difficult than those I experienced during the Nakba.”
