Students of the Syrian Applied Physics Center ( SAPC) are looking forward to achieving honorable results in the Russian Olympiad competition organized by the Russian School of Mathematics “RSM” in the United States of America, in which 30,000 students around the world compete after passing the qualifying stage.
The scientific supervisor and Head of the Physics Department at the SAPC Basel Sultan said in a statement to SANA that the competition is of a high level of difficulty and consists of three sections, the first of which is “mental arithmetic,” followed by a section for “complex arithmetic and engineering problems,” and then a section for “research question and open question for students.
He indicated that It is necessary for the participants to master the English language, as it is one of the languages approved in the Olympiad.
Sultan added that 18 students from Lattakia, Damascus, Homs, Tartous and Sweidah participated in the online competition, stressing the importance of these activities in refining skills and learning innovative ways of creative thinking, which will positively affect academic achievement.
A number of students who participated in the competition via Internet stressed the key role of the SAPC in providing them with an opportunity to develop their thinking skills, enrich knowledge and information and open new horizons for self-development at the local and world level.
Six bronze medals and certificates of appreciation are the outcome of the SAPC ‘s latest participation, which ranked fourth after Malaysia, Singapore and Pakistan in the global mathematics competition “3B Learning”, which was held recently in the Australian city of Sydney, in celebration of the International Day of Mathematics, with the participation of 3 million students from around the world.
It is worth mentioning that the SAPC aims to attract basic and secondary students who are distinguished in physics, mathematics, chemistry and artificial intelligence, to train them on the foundations of scientific research and innovation, and to refine their skills under the supervision of elite professors with the aim of bringing up a generation of young researchers who are able to represent Syria and enhance its presence at the world level.
