Eight medals for Syria in the Asian Kyokushin Championship
The Syrian national team won 8 medals, 2 golds, 2 silvers and 4 bronzes in the Asian Kyokushin Championship, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the participation of more than 250 male and female players representing 15 countries.
In the details, Dima Al-Nouri won the gold medal in the individual combat for the over 55 kg weight in the women’s category in addition to the silver medal in the Kata, while Firas Zarzour won the silver medal in the combat for the men’s category for the under 65 kg weight, Yamen Zarzour won the bronze medal in the men’s category for the under 70 kg weight, and Karam Mahrous won the bronze medal for the juniors for the under 60 kg weight.
The Syrian national team participated with four players residing in Saudi Arabia who won a gold medal and two bronze medals, as Adam Al-Sabouni won the second gold medal in the Kata for the 12-13-year-old category, Mahmoud Abu Al-Shamat won the bronze medal in the 14-15-year- old category for the open weight, while Ryan Hamoud Ali won the bronze medal in the 12-13-year- old category for the under 50 kg weight.
The Syrian team’s coach Hazem Mardini said in a statement that the competitions were very strong, especially with the presence of strong teams in the game, and they participated in good numbers and in most weight categories in the championship.
The players were able to compete and win shiny medals and proved their presence on the Asian scene.
On the sidelines of the championship, the national team coach Mardini participated with referees Mohammed Bilal Ismail and Bashar Habak in the international referees course and passed the international referees test.
Kyokushin is one of the most important and famous styles of karate and the fastest spreading in the world. It is classified among the difficult martial arts that require tough training in addition to high tactics, speed and accuracy in performance, and it has a number of belts.
