Egyptian politician: Presidential elections in Syria a sovereign Syrian affair and the world should respect the Syrian people’s option

Deputy Head of  the Human Rights and Citizenship Party in Egypt Sayyed Al-Assyouti has stressed that holding presidential elections in Syria is a sovereign Syrian affair and the Syrian people hold the exclusive right to decide the future of their own country.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo, Al-Assyouti said that Syria has proved that the Syrian people have the final say as regards to who leads them, stressing that holding the Syrian presidential elections is a Syrian affairs par excellence and no one has the right to interfere in this process.

“Holding these elections indicates a new Syrian victory that is added to the other successes achieved by the Syrian state, people and army in the face of the forces of evil,” Al-Assyouti said, noting the failure of Syria’s enemies, who supported terrorism, in  imposing their schemes on the Syrian people and in controlling their present and future.    

He reiterated that the Syrian people has the exclusive right to decide their future and the world should respect their option.
