Egyptian Political Forces Urge Restoring Full Diplomatic Ties with Syria

CAIRO, (ST)- Egyptian political parties and forces have called for restoring full diplomatic ties between Syria and Egypt and condemned the US division schemes against the Arab countries.

In a statement on Tuesday, the forces said “while the Syrian Arab army is achieving victories over terrorist groups, the United States continues to impose its division and fragmentation schemes against our homeland as to help the Zionist entity be the only super power in the region.”

“The Egyptian people, who condemn these suspicious attempts, stress that the Syrian people and army are able to confront these bids and to defeat terrorism and division plans with the participation of all democratic national forces and within a framework that respects minorities and believes in cultural, political and social diversity,” the statement added.

It stressed the importance of sending the Egyptian Ambassador back to Damascus and the Syrian counterpart back to Cairo. It underlined the need to reactivate the Egyptian role in reaching a solution to the crisis in Syria and restoring Syria’s membership in the Arab League.

In a statement to SANA, Major General Wahid al-Aqsari, Secretary of the Egypt Arab Socialist party, said incomplete diplomatic ties between Syria and Egypt don’t cope with the historical relations between the two countries and they are no longer acceptable.

He reiterated the need to have complete coordination between Egypt and Syria in the ongoing war against terrorist takfiri forces which is a joint war against a common enemy.
