Egyptian party: The presidential elections in Syria show the world the true meaning of democracy

Cairo (ST): The Nasserite Arab Democratic Party in Egypt has affirmed that the achievement of the presidential elections in Syria showed the whole world the true meaning of democracy away from Western slogans that are empty of any real content.

Dr. Muhammad Abul-Ela, head of the party, said in a statement to a news reporter in Cairo: “What the world witnessed from the scenes of the Syrian popular vote and celebration confirms that Syria has crossed a stage and started another stage with which the face of the world will change.”

Abul-Ela pointed out that the celebration of millions of Syrians of the achievement of the presidential elections and the victory of Dr. Bashar al-Assad as President of the Republic makes Syria an icon of victory for all the free people of the world and affirms the sovereignty of peoples over their capabilities and determines their future.

Abul-Ela also stressed the necessity of restoring relations between Egypt and Syria, which were characterized throughout their history as distinct and deeply-rooted in the common history of the two countries.
