Egyptian party stresses Syria’s right to fight terrorists on its territories

CAIRO, (ST)- Deputy Head of the Egyptian Progressive Gathering Party Atef Maghawry has affirmed that the Syrian state has the right to fight and eliminate the terrorist organizations on its territories, stressing that terrorists’ presence among civilians to use them as human shields is a “major crime.”

During his meeting on Wednesday with Dr. Bassam Darwish, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Syrian Embassy in Egypt, Maghawry indicated that the threats made by President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Syria are meaningless and they will not prevent the Syrian Arab Army from continuing its war on terrorism to restore security and stability to all Syrian territories.

He pointed out that Syria had made great sacrifices in the face of the global conspiracy aimed at dividing the region, stressing the need to hold all who caused the suffering of the Syrian people accountable.

For his part, Darwish made it clear that the Syrian Arab Army is facing foreign-backed terrorist organizations which use civilians as human shields to protect themselves from the army’s strikes. He pointed out that the steadfastness of the Syrian people and the bravery of the army have foiled Erdogan’s Muslim Brotherhood’s scheme in Idleb.

The Egyptian Progressive Gathering Party will hold an event on Saturday, in its headquarters to voice support for Syria in its war on terrorism and in confronting the Zionist-American aggression.

A number of Egyptian politicians and parliamentarians will participate in the event titled “Syria is triumphing and it is our duty to support it”.
