Egyptian parties, Arab personalities announce solidarity with Syria, demand breaking Western blockade imposed on the Syrians

A number of Egyptian and Arab parties and personalities expressed their solidarity with Syria in confronting terrorism and the repercussions of the devastating earthquake.

This came during two symposiums organized Wednesday evening by the National Progressive Unionist Party and the Arab Democratic Nasserite Party, on the occasion of the 65th  Anniversary of the unity between Syria and Egypt.

During the political conference in the “Tagammu Party” headquarters, held under the title “Egypt and Syria…endless unity…Together to confront terrorism and the effects of the earthquake and in order to lift the siege and sanctions,” Khaled Al-Kilani, coordinator of the Khaled Mohieldin Forum, said: “We feel sorrow because of what has been happening in Syria since 2011, and what afflicted it as a result of the earthquake, mainly in light of the continued unjust and brutal siege imposed on it.

In his turn, member of the Egyptian Parliament and deputy head of the “Tagammu Party” Atef Maghawry indicated that Syria, whose people fought all the battles of the Arab nation, will be victorious, despite terrorism and Zionist aggression, stressing the need to lift all restrictions imposed on this country.

Former Yemeni President Ali Nasser Muhammad pointed out that Syria is paying the price for its national positions, calling on everyone to realize that the strength of the Arabs lies in their unity.

Secretary-General of the Arab Peace Group and former Jordanian Minister, Samir Habashneh, demanded the lifting of the unjust Western siege on Syria, pointing to the necessity of unifying the Arab stance in order to be able to face the challenges.

Head of the Lebanese People’s Congress, Kamal Shatila, affirmed that Syria is the beating heart of Arabism, and what it was exposed to in terms of terrorism and NATO aggression requires solidarity with it to defend Arab national security, stressing that standing by Syria is a matter of fate and a national duty.

Leader of the Palestinian Fatah movement, Yasser Abu Sido, confirmed that Arab disintegration is the main disease, and that Arab unity is the way to be an active nation globally.

For his part, the Acting Chargé d’ Affairs at the Syrian Embassy in Cairo, Basil Scotty, pointed out that the blockade imposed on Syria has a great impact on the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis that occurred as a result of the earthquake, so this blockade must be broken with actual measures and immediate action.

The Syrian poet, Nahida Shadeed, presented poetic verses, expressing her love to Syria.

In the Nasserite party symposium, in which the National Accord and Dignity parties and the Nasserite General Conference participated, Engineer Muhammad al-Nimr, head of the Nasserite party, said: the affliction of Syria is the ordeal of all Arabs, and we are working to coordinate with a group of politicians from Egypt and from various parties to send a team of doctors for medical assistance to support Syria.

In turn, Head of Al-Wifaq Party, Muhammad Rifaat, denounced the Western blockade imposed on Syria, calling on countries not to abide by it, as it is outside international law and legitimacy.

Former Egyptian Minister of Manpower Kamal Abu Aita said: The solidarity convoys sent to Syria are an expression of a new Arab popular movement.

Editor-in-chief of Al-Karama newspaper, Hamid Jabr, expressed thanked all the countries that broke the siege on Syria. The Egyptian journalist and historian Muhammad Al-Shafei expressed hope over holding an Arab conference of Arab nationalists in Damascus.

Head of the Arab National Conference in Lebanon Maan Bashour called via video for Arab solidarity and breaking the siege imposed on Syria.
