Egyptian Foreign Ministry: International Community Should Live Up to Its Responsibilities Regarding Terrorism Fighting
CAIRO-The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has stressed that the international community is demanded to live up to its responsibilities by taking necessary actions in line with the UN convention against the terrorist organizations which have common extremist ideologies.
The Egyptian media outlets quoted the ministry spokesman Badruddin al-Ati as saying in a statement that Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri traveled early today to New York in order to hold talks with senior United Nations officials and members of the Security Council.
Al-Ati added the minister will talk to the UN and Security Council officials on the latest developments in the light of the horrible terrorist crime of beheading 21 Egyptian workers in Libya by the so-called “Islamic State”. He will also demand them to shoulder their responsibility towards what is going on in the Arab region.
The spokesman pointed out that after New York, Shoukri is to travel to Washington to take part in the “Counter-Terrorism Summit” scheduled to be held between February 18th and 20th as to affirm Egypt’s firm stance towards terrorism and to declare that what is happening in Libya poses serious threat to international peace and security if the world doesn’t take an immediate action to fight the terrorist organizations there.
