CAIRO, (ST)-The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has vehemently condemned the recent terrorist attacks which hit Sayyeda Zeinab suburb in Damascus Countryside and al-Zahraa district in Homs and which claimed the lives of at least 130 people and wounded more than 300. The ministry has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims.
Spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmad Abu Zeid said in a statement, of which SANA correspondent in Cairo got copy on Monday, that “Egypt condemns in the strongest terms all forms of terrorism and calls on the international community to exert more efforts and be united as to uproot this abhorrent phenomenon.”
In the same context, the spokesman described the Russian-American statement on the ceasefire plan in Syria as an important and necessary step that serves the interests of the Syrian people and creates an environment which supports UN-sponsored political process that leads to an all-out agreement that achieves political settlement in Syria.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Monday that he and his US counterpart have agreed upon the cessation of military operations in Syria starting from Saturday, February 27th.
