Egypt calls on the international community to hold Erdogan accountable for his crimes by supporting terrorism in Syria

Egypt calls on the International Community to hold Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accountable for his crimes, especially supporting terrorism in Syria and the region, supplying weapons, providing safe shelters to the terrorists as well as his crimes against his people which contradict the UNSC’s resolutions.

In a statement as a response to Erdogan’s remarks at an event in New York and in his statement to the UN General Assembly, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said: “What is surprising is Erdogan’s determination to continue his allegations and make false and tenuous statements which outwardly claim defending the values of justice and inwardly imply the feelings of hatred towards Egypt and its people”.

Hafez pointed out that it is ironic that these allegations come from someone like Erdogan in light of his suspicious role in supporting and sponsoring terrorism in the region through embracing the terrorist Moslem Brotherhood and providing political support and media platforms to them as a way to continue promoting their subversive ideas in Egypt and the whole region.

Hafez referred to Erdogan’s sponsorship of terrorism in Syria, which led to the bloodshed of the Syrian people as well as facilitating the passage of terrorists and foreign militants and supporting them in penetrating the countries of the region, Europe, Africa and Asia in order to destabilize theses countries and promoting and disseminating radicalism.

“Egypt has always condemned Erdogan’s incessant intervention -backed by the countries that support terrorism and radicalism- in the internal affairs of many countries in the region with the aim of threatening their internal stability and imposing hegemony on them”, Hafez added, casting light on the gross violations perpetrated by Erdogan’s regime against the Turkish people as he is trying to make them hostage to a false freedom and alleged justice.

Hafez considered Erdogan’s statements against Egypt as just a desperate attempt to distract attention from the deterioration of his regime status and the successive losses which he’s suffering from both at the party level or on the Turkish internal arena and the international one.
