Egypt and China welcome the announcement of ceasefire in Lebanon

Cairo-Beijing, (ST) – Egypt and China welcomed the announcement of ceasefire between Lebanon and the Israeli entity that came into effect this dawn.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement on its website that the agreement should be a prelude to stopping the Israeli occupation aggression in Gaza Strip that has exceeded more than a year, and the necessity of reaching an immediate ceasefire and the full passage of humanitarian aid without obstacles, in light of the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Strip, in addition to stopping the unjustified violations in the West Bank.”

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stressed the great importance of stopping the escalation in the region.

He clarified  that there are no military solutions to the crises in the region, but rather through negotiation, dialogue, and restoring rights to their owners, and commitment to the principles of international law, international humanitarian law, international legitimacy, the Charter of the United Nations and its resolutions, through a serious political process and within a specific time frame that leads to the establishment of the Palestinian state on the entire Palestinian national territory and ending the occupation.

For her part, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said during a press conference today: We support all efforts aimed at reducing tensions and achieving peace, and we welcome the ceasefire agreement reached by the relevant parties.

The ceasefire was announced last night, as Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on the Israeli enemy to fully adhere to the ceasefire decision that was reached, withdraw from all Lebanese areas and sites it occupies, and fully abide by international resolution.
