Egypt affirms its support to the Syrian state

CAIRO, Mar.8, (ST)-Egypt affirmed its support to the Syrian state, its institutions and its stability in the face of security challenges, and its rejection of any moves that would affect the security, safety and stability of the Syrian people.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement issued yesterday: “The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its concern over the clashes that took place in Lattakia governorate in the Syrian Arab Republic, which resulted in a number of casualties and injuries.”

It added: “Egypt affirms its support to the Syrian state, its national institutions and its stability in the face of security challenges, and rejects any moves that would affect the security, safety and stability of the Syrian people. The Arab Republic of Egypt reaffirms the importance of combating all forms of violence, the necessity of putting the Syrian national interest above all considerations, and working to overcome this delicate transitional phase in Syria.”

The ministry concluded by saying : “Egypt reiterates the importance of launching a comprehensive transitional political process that ensures the participation of all segments of the Syrian people without exclusion and guarantees the rights of all sects in Syria.”
