Minister of Education Dr. Darem Tabbaa has discussed today with the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF” in Syria, Victor Newland, ways to coordinate joint programs between the two sides and a mechanism for enhancing cooperation to serve the educational process in a number of fields.
During the meeting, Dr. Tabaa pointed out the importance of cooperation with UNICEF to achieve better learning for students and support the educational process, pointing to the importance of Syria’s virtual participation in the preparatory meeting for the Education Transformation Summit that was held lately in Paris and the importance of UNESCO and UNICEF support for the direct participation of a number of Syrian youth in the Education Transformation Summit that will be held in New York next September.
Dr. Tabbaa further pointed out the possibility of conducting a pilot study with the support of UNICEF on measures to protect students from drug dangers by investing leisure time during the summer vacation in coordination with music and sports clubs.
For his part, Newland praised the fruitful cooperation with the ministry, especially in the field of interactive activities, life skills, self-learning and social emotionality, stressing the organization’s support for the development of education in Syria side by side with the rehabilitation of schools.
