Education and UNICEF discuss mechanisms to enhance cooperation

On October 1st, Minister of Education Dr. DaremTabbaa discussed with UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Adele Khader ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides to serve the educational process on several axes.

Tabbaa expressed his hope in reinforcing cooperation in the field of enhancing the capabilities of teaching frameworks, and supporting distance and virtual learning.

He pointed to the importance of increasing the support provided to the educational sector, especially in the field of girls’ education, and tracking their success stories in the category (B) curriculum and the self-learning curriculum (the enabling curriculum).

He said that there are private virtual schools whose students can take exams in any country around the world, in the event that the conditions for conducting the general exams applied in Syria are adhered to.

For her part, Khader praised the role of the Ministry of Education in facilitating and enhancing cooperation between the two sides, noting the successful steps that have been taken in the field of developing the category (B) curriculum.

The meeting was attended by the representative of the organization in Syria, Victor Newland, his deputy, Dr. Ghada Kajahji, the head of the organization’s education department, Frederic Afolter, and the director of planning and international cooperation at the ministry, Ghassan Shagri.
