Damascus, (ST)- Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Humam Al -Jazairi and Ambassador of South Africa Shaun Binfelidt discussed here a number of economic and development cooperation issues between the two countries that were agreed upon during the visit of Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Nomadia C Mfeketo to Damascus in May.
The two sides agreed to cooperate in the field of investment for the production of alternative energies, especially solar energy and to benefit from the technical and technological expertise of the South African companies in this field and discuss joint investments.
The two sides also agreed to develop a development program, with funding from South Africa with the Support Body of Local production and Exports for the Development of Rural Productive Capacity with the participation of experts from South Africa as well as cooperation for the development of alternative models for the implementation of real estate development business and reconstruction, including local and initial funding models.
The two parties, during the meeting, identified the link points and the joint working group to complete necessary preparations for these projects.
The South African government decided to support its embassy in Damascus with diplomatic and additional technical cadres to strengthen economic cooperation with Syria.
