Economy Minister: Permanent Centers for Syrian Products Abroad

Damascus, (ST) –The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohammed Samer Al-Khalil said that Syria will witness in the coming periods important exhibitions at the local and foreign levels with government support.

The Minister pointed out that there is a government interest in international exhibitions to open outlets for the disposal of Syrian products and increase exports and trade exchange between Syria and other countries, pointing out that participation in these exhibitions will be a gateway to the opening of permanent centers of Syrian products in a number of cities in the friendly countries of Syria.

 “Participation in international exhibitions gives us an opportunity to learn more about consumer habits and the nature of popular products and prices in these countries,” he said, adding that during the last few days the ministry has organized an active participation of private sector companies in the food exhibition in Moscow, Russia which is one of the most important exhibitions in the region.

Mr. al –Khalil pointed out that the next participation will be in Iraq at Baghdad Fair for Direct Sale, which will last for one month and will be attended by the General Organization for Exhibitions, International Markets and the Association for Support and Development of Local Production and Exports, Federation of Syrian exporters, a number of federations and private sector companies.

“We count on the exhibition as a great opportunity to sell Syrian products and market them in the Iraqi market, which is one of the most important markets for Syrian products,” Mr. al –Khalil added.

The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade said that there will be a number of exhibitions of Syrian products in a number of countries, including Morocco, Lebanon and some Arab countries.” The exhibition will be announced after the other. “The first of these exhibitions will be in Baghdad and the participation will be next month.”

Director of Foundation for Fairs and International Markets, Fares Kartlli, said: “The decision to transfer all the internal exhibitions that take place in Damascus to the exhibition city on Damascus International Airport Road has been taken.” In the coming year, there will be a number of shopping festivals.

In a statement to local press, Kartlli revealed that some 15 exhibitions have been installed in the exhibition area during the year 2018. The number is increasing, pointing out that an ambitious plan is being put in place to transport many festivals to the exhibition city. There is also a possibility of organizing a festival for shopping by  Damascus Chamber of Commerce and its Countryside.
