The Italian News Agency Aki quoted  EC vice president Vera Jourova as saying in a press conference that the EU executive body would issue instructions about the aid to be given to the member states to help them re-operate the transport sector before opening their external borders, noting  the necessity of  salvaging the tourist season.

Jourova stressed that relaunching the tourism and transport system should be well-studied taking into account the situation of the pandemic in every country .

The EC underlined the necessity of equal treatment for citizens and passengers.

Earlier, the EC had estimated losses of the tourism sector in Europe at a rate of 50%  as a result of the Corona-virus pandemic.
