E- payment conference and exhibition “EPEX 2” … exchanging experiences and promoting digital transformation in Syria

Highlighting the developments of technology and the regulatory and legislative environment related to electronic payment and its role in supporting economic development in Syria are the most prominent issues focused on during the EPEX 2 conference and exhibition which was organized by the Syrian Computer Society in cooperation with Thiqa for exhibitions and conferences at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

The executive director of the Syrian Telecommunications Company, Eng. Saif al-Din al-Hassan, explained in a statement to SANA that Syrian telecom participates in the electronic payment exhibition to showcase the services it carries out and learn about the services provided by other companies in this field, stressing that the exhibition is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences and it allows the company to meet and communicate directly with its customers and know their opinions regarding the services it provides.

Director of marketing and public relations at Wataniya Microfinance Bank, Sariya al-Homsi, said that the bank is interested in keeping pace with the development and digital transformation taking place in Syria .

 “We have recently launched several digital banking services that mitigate traditional payment methods such as internet banking, mobile banking and ATM card,” she added, indicating that the bank provides financing solutions to enhance the capabilities of small businesses.

The events of the exhibition and conference started yesterday and concluded today through multiple dialogue sessions dealing with the legal, applied and technical framework of the electronic payment system, experiences and studies from public and private entities on the digital transformation strategy, the vision of the central bank for electronic payment, the challenges facing its application and other related topics.
