Dumas: Syria an Independent State and France Participated in Anti-Syria Western Aggression

PARIS- French Ex-Foreign Minister Roland Dumas has stressed that Syria is an independent diverse state and a close ally to Russia, asserting that all have to realize that France has taken part in the Western aggression on this Arab country.

In a statement to “France24” channel yesterday, Dumas said the current French Foreign Minister doesn’t have the right to call for changing the “regime” and government in Syria.

The French ex-diplomat regretted the way the situation in Syria has been deteriorated, pointing out that the situation in the country has become “vague “.

“Today they are bombarding Syria under the pretext of fighting terrorists. This is a chaos that needs to be fixed by attaining a peaceful solution not by shelling and bombing,” Dumas said.

He pointed out that mistakes and negative procedures taken have led to more deterioration in the Middle East, saying that “French President Francois Hollande doesn’t have a wise or reasonable Arab policy as I heard about him.”

“Both Hollande and the former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said that Libya’s Muammar al-Qaddafi must be killed and now Libya is experiencing a civil war and a sharp political and security crisis,” Dumas clarified.

He stressed that he was against wars because they lead to killing and destruction. “Look at the war and the high rate of poverty in Libya now. The situation there was good when Qaddafi was in power.”

Dumas reiterated that international conferences should be held with the intention of attaining peace not waging wars or asking for the bombardment of a city. These conferences shouldn’t be held with the purpose of regime change.
