Dujarric: Pedersen returns to Damascus to continue his contacts with Syrian officials
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric announced that the UN Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen will return to Damascus this week to continue his contacts with officials of the caretaker government in Syria and representatives of various segments of society.
The UN News Center quoted Dujarric as saying in a press conference at the organization’s headquarters in New York: Pederson’s return to Damascus comes after his participation in the Munich Security Conference a few days ago, where he held discussions with high-level representatives from Syria, France, Germany, Iraq, the Emirates and others.
Dujarric clarified that the UN envoy stressed during his participation in the Munich Security Conference the importance of a comprehensive political process led by Syria with the support of the international community.
