Baku ( ST) : Deputy Foreign and Expatriate Minister, head of the Syrian delegation to the Non-Aligned Movement summit Dr. Faisal al-Mikdad held a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Venezuelan Republic Jorge Arreaza on the sidelines of the summit meeting.
Mr. Arasia expressed pride in the Syrian Venezuelan relations and his country’s complete support for Syria’s battle against terrorism. He also expressed severe condemnation of the foreign intervention in Syria’s internal affairs.
The Venezuelan foreign minister spoke highly of the great achievements Syria realized under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, expressing high appreciation for Syria’s support for his country in confrontation of the Western conspiratorial plans that target Venezuela and its legitimate leadership.
In turn, Dr. al-Mikdad affirmed Syria’s support for Venezuela, its people and leadership in confrontation of the Western and American interventions which aim at undermining Venezuela’s independence, sovereignty and its independent political decision under the leadership of President Nicholas Maduro.
Dr. al-Mikdad presented a detailed explanation about the achievements realized recently by the Syrian Arab army, especially liberating vast areas north east of Syria from terrorist groups and separatist militias.
The two sides agreed on enhancing coordination regarding all issues of mutual concern.
Dr. al-Mikdad also met with the president of the International Red Cross Committee Peter Maurer. The two sides expressed satisfaction over bilateral cooperation and stressed the necessity of intensifying efforts to face the increasing humanitarian challenges resulting from the latest developments in the north-eastern region.
Maurer expressed high appreciation for Syria’s cooperation with the Red Cross, especially the facilitations offered by the Syrian government in al-Hol camp that enabled the Red Cross to offer food and medical aid.
Dr. al-Mikdad expressed high appreciation for International Red Cross Organization, stressing readiness to enhance cooperation and offer more facilitations to alleviate the suffering and difficulties resulting from the savage acts of the armed terrorist groups.
