DPRK: US sanctions are Washington’s tool to dominate other countries

Pyongyang-(ST)- The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) stressed that the US sanctions against it are merely a diplomatic tool that the United States strongly use to dominate other countries.

The DPRK News Agency quoted DPRK Deputy Foreign Minister for US Affairs Kim Eun Chol as saying in a statement: “The severe sanctions imposed by the current US administration are by no means new for the DPRK, which has lived under such sanctions from hostile forces for half a century, and they constitute an incentive and a driving force that encouraged the gradual development of the national power of the DPRK.”

Chol pointed out that the development of nuclear weapons in the DPRK was launched from the beginning in response to nuclear threats from the United States, indicating that his country will continue to develop nuclear weapons in case more sanctions are imposed.

Chol concluded by saying: The DPRK will reliably defend its sovereign rights and security interests in the face of hostile threats, sanctions and constantly escalating pressure from the United States, and will take practical measures to make its military technical strength irreversible.
