DAMASCUS, oct.18, ( ST)- -Nataliya Nikonorova, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic, has asserted the importance of strengthening relations with Syria in all domains for the interest of the two friendly countries.
In an interview with the Syrian T.V. Channel on Tuesday, Nikonorova said that her current visit to Syria at the head of a delegation, which includes the ministers of culture and agriculture and a number of specialists, aims to strengthen the emerging relations with Syria and the ways of developing them, adding: “We always strive to achieve the common interests of our two countries that share many aspirations.”
The minister stressed that Syria was and will remain an essential partner for her country to rely on, indicating that the Donetsk Republic seeks to establish close cooperation with Syria in economic, industrial and agricultural fields.
In another topic, Nikonorova clarified that Russia has started its special military operation in Ukraine to preserve its national security and to protect the residents of Donbass, and this war is not only with Ukraine, but with NATO, which provides Ukraine with arms and material and logistical support, in addition to providing fighters to escalate the situation as much as possible.
She referred to Kiev’s practices and targeting the residents of Donbass since 2014, where thousands of innocent people were killed.
She expressed her thanks to Syria for its support to the Donetsk Republic, its respect for the choice of its people and its support for it in the United Nations.
The minister concluded by saying: “The friendly Syrian people feel what we are suffering because they have also suffered from terrorism, occupation, and US and Western sanctions.. We tell them that together we are strong and we can always stand in the face of all challenges as we are right, and as long as we are right, our people and your people will win, and this victory will be over terrorism and hegemony. The unipolar system of the world has ended, and there will be a multipolar world full of justice, equality and rights.”
