From the very beginning of the crisis in Syria, the US and its Western and regional allies have been adopting double standards towards the question of terrorism with the aim of perpetuating the crisis in Syria and prolonging the suffering and bloodshed of Syrian people. In fact, the US and its allies are the parties which are responsible for the spread of terrorism in Syria, Iraq and the region, because they offer financial, military and logistic support to terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
Syria’s neighboring countries don’t have a real will to support an international regional alliance to fight terrorism. Syria always supports the international initiatives that serve the political solution without foreign intervention. Syrian Arab Army and popular defense groups continue to combat terrorism which they have been battling for over five years.
The Turkish president is acting as if Turkey was his own property, which carries big risks for the Turkish people and the region. There is plenty of evidence that incriminates Erdogan for supporting terrorists with weapons and facilitating their entry into Syria. Syria has submitted plenty of evidence that exposes Erdogan’s support for terrorist organizations to the UN Security Council but Western countries are so far disinclined to condemn Turkey.
Double standards should be abandoned for effectively combating the Islamic State on Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The Russian invitation to fight ISIS has received wide attention in the international arena. Russia has suggested to Washington and its other partners fighting ISIS through establishing an alliance and supporting the political solution in Syria at the same time.
The U.S. attitude could blow up the situation in Syria if it would defend the so-called opposition that it has trained to fight the Syrian people and government. The unwillingness of the US and other Western countries to cooperate with the Syrian government in fighting the ISIS terrorist organization undermines the effectiveness of the efforts exerted for fighting terrorism.
The US and its Western states don’t find that there is a necessity of focusing on the terrorist danger in Syria and Iraq through joint work in fighting the ISIS. Till this moment, we don’t have unified efforts at the international community and the reason behind that is the US and the other Western countries as well as our Western members at the Security Council who don’t want to cooperate with the Syrian Government in this joint war and this undermines the effectiveness of the exerted efforts.
While working on destroying the chemical weapons in Syria, all cooperated with the Syrian Government. Why can’t we do it now at a time when we are facing a very dangerous challenge represented by the ISIS and other terrorist organizations in Syria. This paradox in the US policy shows the double standards in its policy, especially towards the crisis in Syria and the issue of fighting terrorism.
The first country which suffered from terrorism, coming from Libya, is Syria where the ships of terrorism and weapons were sent from terrorists of Libya as a gift to those in Syria. When Libya becomes a factory for terrorism and a center to freight the weapons of killing to Syria and the rest of the world, our duty will be to stop this danger and not stand silent on the countries which play with the destiny of the Libyans and use them as tools to kill the Syrians.
What has happened in Libya following the invasion, like division and making it a hotbed for terrorists, was an experiment to what those invaders were plotting against the rest of Arab countries.
Syrian people will not yield to pressures, Syria will not offer any political concessions. The Syrian people are determined to continue struggle in defending its honor, dignity, sovereignty and independence whatever the sacrifices would be.
After the failure of the West and its tools in the region to force Syria to kneel, the US and its allies are practicing immoral means to put pressure on Syria through training more killers and terrorists in Turkey and Saudi Arabia with the aim of weakening the Syrian Arab Army.
Independence, sovereignty, dignity, self-determination, territorial integrity and unity of the Syrian people are the values which can’t be abandoned. The Syrians now are stronger, more resilient and gather around their leadership and army to fight terrorism.
