Divine Liturgy on the occasion of Easter in the Mariamiya Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Damascus

On May 3rd  morning, a Divine Liturgy was held on the occasion of the Monday  Passover “Al-Ba`th” at the Marian cathedral for the Greek Orthodox in Damascus.

The liturgy headed by the Patriarchal Agent Bishop Avram Maalouli and the patriarchal assistants Bishop Musa El-Khoury and Yohanna Batsh, and he performed the liturgy of the spiritual choir led by Archimandrite Malatios Shatahi.

Patriarch John X, Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East, referred to the Greek Orthodox community in the feast sermon delivered on his behalf by Patriarchal Agent Maalouli to the great meanings of this occasion.

 

Patriarch John X said: “ We pray today for the sake of Syria, which has so far suffered and suffered the effects of war. Violence, terrorism, displacement and a general crisis targeting, first and foremost, a people with their sacred right to life.” 

Patriarch John X: “ We pray for a united Syria and for the watchful eye over its borders and its dignity, and we pray to God to preserve Syria, its people and its leader, President Bashar Al-Assad.” 

Patriarch John X concluded by saying: “We pray for this East and its role in the world and for the sake of the kidnapped, including the Archbishop of Aleppo, John Ibrahim and Paul Yazigi. We pray for the peace of the whole world and for God to lift the burden of the Corona epidemic from everyone, and to be with the medical and service staff to reduce pain for everyone who suffers.”
