Discussions to develop scientific cooperation between the universities of Damascus and the North Caucasus, Russia
Damascus (ST): The President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, discussed with the President of the North Caucasus Federal University in the Russian Federation, Dr. Dmitry Bespalov, and the accompanying scientific delegation, prospects for scientific and academic cooperation between the two sides.
Dr. Al-Jabban gave a brief overview of Damascus University with its faculties, institutes, centers, number of students, programs and study plans, expressing the university’s readiness to discuss all axes and topics of scientific and cultural cooperation with North Caucasus University in various fields of common interest.
In turn, Professor Bespalov gave a presentation on the North Caucasus Federal University, which includes about 24 thousand students, 15 colleges and institutes, 27 scientific centers and 156 majors in the humanities, technical and general sciences, stressing the university’s desire to establish advanced scientific relations with the prestigious Damascus University and to raise this cooperation to the desired level.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a draft agreement that includes the proposed axes and topics for cooperation between the two sides, foremost of which is the academic and student exchange and the exchange of researchers in a number of common disciplines between the two universities, cooperation in the field of scientific publishing of joint research and teaching Arabic and Russian languages.
The two sides agreed to form a follow-up and coordination committee in order to study the terms of the draft agreement and draw up a map for future cooperation between the two sides, provided that a time is set for the signing of the agreement between the two universities.
