Director of the General Security Department in Lattakia: “We managed to absorb the attack in Jableh countryside”

Director of the General Security Department in Lattakia Governorate, Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Knefati said “as part of a pre-planned and deliberate attack, several groups from the remnants of the former regime’s militia attacked our points and checkpoints, and targeted many of our patrols in Jableh city and its countryside in Lattakia, which led to the martyrdom and injury of a number of members of the security forces”.

Knefati added “government buildings, public and even private properties were not spared from the attack of the remnants of the Assad militias, as they vandalized and destroyed public facilities in the city of Jableh and its vicinity”.

“We have fully mobilized our forces in the governorate, and we managed to absorb the attack in Jableh countryside, and clashes are still ongoing with armdd groups inside the city,” Knefati said.

He added “we received huge reinforcements from security forces coming from other governorates. In addition, military reinforcements from the Ministry of Defense were brought in.”

Knefati went on to say “we assure the civilian population that we managed to absorb this attack, and we will work to end the presence of these armed groups and rid the society of their evil, and we will restore stability to the region and preserve the property of our people.”

Earlier, a source in the Ministry of Defense told SANA that huge military reinforcements are heading to Jableh area and its countryside in Lattakia to support the public security forces and restore stability to this area.

The source added the Ministry of Defense forces will be a backup for the General Security forces that are absorbing the attack carried out by remnants of the former regime on several areas.
