Moscow, (ST) – The director of Russia Today Arabic channel, Maya Mannaa, affirmed that the channel was blocked from YouTube and that this was a coordinated attack by an organization funded by the wealthy who are politically motivated.
In response to the blocking of the channel, Mannaa said on Wednesday that, “over the past 14 years, more than 5.5 million viewers have subscribed to our channel on YouTube, and the channel gained 2.8 billion views, becoming one of the leading voices in the global news space in the Arabic language.”
She added that, “what they are trying now is to block this voice using a quick tool and an automatic response to questionable allegations of copyright infringement by using a number of historical photos that were provided by Business Casual Holdings.”
“The false allegations of this company that it is suing the Russian authorities in order to obtain compensation for copyright infringement from the RT channel prove that the motive behind this initiative is political bias and also confirms the possibility of tampering with and misuse of the YouTube platform by unscrupulous users, she said.”
YouTube had blocked the channel / RT / this morning after the channel received 4 violations from the same user registered in the United States of America under the trademark Business Casual.
