Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza Strip: “The occupation does not allow anything to enter, and the world ignores our appeals”

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST)-Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, confirmed that the Israeli occupation is still imposing a tight siege on the northern Gaza Strip, denouncing the silence of the international community and its disregard for appeals to intervene to stop the aggression and bring in aid.

Palestinian media quoted Dr. Abu Safia as saying today: The northern Gaza Strip is still under a tight siege and the occupation does not allow anything to be brought in, adding that there is no medicine, no crews, no food, no ambulances, and no civil defense services despite our appeals to the world to intervene, and the same scene is constantly repeated.

Dr. Abu Safia explained that several distress calls reach the hospital to rescue the wounded and retrieve the martyrs, but the lack of ambulances and rescue crews prevents access to the areas bombed by the occupation, which leads to the martyrdom of the wounded, and those who manage to reach it come on foot and are exposed to shelling on the way.

Dr. Abu Safia pointed out that the hospital currently contains 85 injured children and women who are receiving minimal health care, and in intensive care there are 6 very critical cases, noting also that cases of malnutrition are arriving at the hospital, and that 17 children showing signs of malnutrition arrived at the hospital yesterday, while an elderly man died due to severe dehydration.

Dr. Abu Safia explained that the situation has become more catastrophic and unfortunately there is no movement or even promises from any international party to open a humanitarian corridor to bring in medicines, supplies, medical delegations and baby milk.

On October 5, the Israeli occupation forces invaded the northern Gaza Strip for the third time since the start of the war of extermination, imposed a strict siege on it, and prevented the entry of aid to it in the light of the continuous bombing that resulted in the martyrdom of more than 1,300 Palestinians, the injury of thousands and the forced displacement of residents towards the southern Gaza Strip.

Those remaining in northern Gaza Strip, estimated at hundreds of thousands, are suffering from catastrophic conditions due to the siege and bombardment. The difficulties are exacerbated by the occupation’s prevention of ambulance and civil defense crews from working in the area and its destruction of the health organization, amid the silence of the international community and its inability to stop the war despite the UN Security Council’s decision to end it, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
