With the aim of enhancing human communication and social cohesion between various segments of society, the ladies of the Diplomatic Club in Syria visited “Dar Al Hanan” Association for the Care of the Infirm and the Elderly in Damascus countryside.
Shukria Al-Miqdad, honorary president of the club, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that providing care and support to the elderly is a social responsibility that requires the combined efforts of individuals and community institutions. She said that this is based on the fact that the elderly are a storehouse of expertise and experiences, and a link between the past and the present.
Al-Miqdad stressed the importance of this visit in identifying the needs of the elderly to encourage all segments of society to provide support for institutions concerned with caring for the elderly and to strengthen the bonds of love and harmony among members of society.
The honorary president added that the ladies of the club, in cooperation with Al-Durra Food Products Company, provided symbolic gifts and food products to the residents of the association.
For her part, Aya Bin Shaaban, president of the club, highlighted the importance of caring for elderly and benefiting from their experiences and the intellectual and cultural knowledge they enjoy .
In turn, Dr. Nada Farhat, Director of the Dar Al Hanan Association, noted that this visit reflected positively on the residents of the association, calling on the youths to hold events and initiatives that are suitable for elderly to alleviate the feelings of loneliness they feel.
