Diarrhea cases increase in Hasakah as the Turkish occupation continues to cut off drinking water supplies
The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have been cutting off drinking water supplies for about a million citizens in the Syrian city of Hasaka for two months, exacerbating the suffering of the locals in securing their needs of clean water.
The citizens’ disability to have access to clean water has led to an increase in diarrhea cases, particularly among children, according to Hasakah Health Directorate.
Dr. Issa Khalaf, Director of Hasakah Health told SANA that since the beginning of this month, 1827 people, including 1475 children, have had diarrhea, pointing out that the main reason for these cases is using water from unreliable sources, having uncovered food and the changing weather conditions.
He clarified that the increase in diarrhea and inflamed intestines cases coincided with the continuity of cutting off water supplies for citizens in Hasakah by the Turkish occupation.
Khalaf affirmed that the Syrian government is doing its best by taking intensive measures to secure safe drinking water to the citizens either through desalination stations or water tanks that are filled and sterilized on a daily basis by the water establishment in the city.
