Dialogue session between Russian academics, researchers and Syrian diplomats

On March 8th, the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates held a dialogue session between a delegation of Russian academics headed by Vitaly Naumkin, head of the Oriental Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation, and Syrian diplomats.

The dialogue session tackled the Syrian-Russian bilateral relations, the political and international situation, and potential prospects in light of developments.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated that Naumkin and the researchers at the Oriental Institute expressed their desire to hear  the opinions of Syrian diplomats and exchange studies with their Syrian counterparts.

These studies support the Russian and Syrian officials and decision -makers in improving the security and economic situation and  in combating all forms of terrorism, including economic terrorism.

The session was attended by the Director of the Diplomatic Institute, Dr. Imad Mustafa, directors of departments at the Ministry and a number of Syrian diplomats.

On the Russian side, a group of researchers from the Russian Institute of Orientalism attended the dialogue session.
