Development of Transportation with the Russian Side Discussed

Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Transport Eng. Ali Hammoud said that the ministry discussed with concerned parties in the Russian Federation the possibility of cooperation to rehabilitate the airports in the liberated areas, the establishment of new airports, the rehabilitation of the air transport fleet and the providing of modern aircraft.

Mr. Hammoud, who is participating in the meetings of the Syrian-Russian Joint Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation in Sochi, said talks with the Russian side included ways to develop the naval fleet, establish a floating dock for ship repair and rehabilitation of bridges destroyed by terrorism and road maintenance.

 During a telephone conversation with him, Mr. Hamoud pointed out that the technical delegation participating in the tenth session of the Joint Governmental Committee for Economic, Commercial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Syria and Russia discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of railway transport development, maintenance of vehicles, trucks, tanks, railway lines and operation of the regular line between the Syrian coast and Russian ports.
