Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission has warned that the crime of medical negligence committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against prisoners is on the rise.
The Commission called on the concerned international and humanitarian institutions to assume their responsibilities and stop the crimes of the occupation.
Thaer Shreiteh, the spokesperson for the authority, stated in statements on Tuesday, reported by Wafa News Agency, that new catastrophic illnesses are discovered every day among the prisoners inside the detention centers as a result of the occupation’s persistence in the policy of medical negligence against the prisoners, which lead to the exacerbation of the diseases and pains inside prisoners’ bodies.
Shreiteh warned of the serious health condition of 24 prisoners suffering from cancer, mainly the prisoner Walid Daqqa. He pointed out that the occupation continues to refuse to release him or transfer him to a hospital in the occupied West Bank for treatment.
Shreiteh referred to the deterioration of the health condition of the prisoner Thaer Dawas who is being held in Ramon detention center and suffers from heart problems and breathing difficulties.
The occupation continues to hold about 5,000 prisoners in its detention centers, including 160 children, 30 women, and 700 prisoners suffering from various diseases.
