Despite War and Unfair Sanctions Syria’s Workers Managed to Produce Citizens’ Requirements

MOSCOW, (ST)- Syria’s workers have managed to produce the requirements of citizens despite difficulties resulted from the terrorist war on Syria and the unfair economic sanctions imposed on the Syrians, Head of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) in Syria Jamal al-Qaderi has underscored, hailing the Syrian working force’s steadfastness and role in confronting terrorism.

 Al-Qaderi remarks were made during a meeting on Thursday in Moscow between Syria’s GFTU delegation and  the delegation of Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia.

The two sides discussed booting bilateral relations and agreed on signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in unionist work.

Al-Qaderi explained the dimensions of the terrorist war on Syria and its repercussions on the Syrian people in general and the working force in particular.

 He stressed that Syria achieved promising social and economic development by its own potentials and without depending on international funds and “this is why Syria’s enemies waged the war on the country aiming to destroy it and eliminate the Syrian peoples’ decades old achievements.”

On his part, Michael Shmakov, Head of the Russian Federation of Independent Trade Unions presented a brief idea about the federation’s activities and policies and about the services it provides to workers.

The Syrian delegation visited the Russian Academy for Work and Social Relations and was briefed on its curricula and the academic degrees it grants.

The GFTU’s delegation visited Moscow at the invitation of its Russian counterpart. It plans to visit the Tatarstan Republic to meet speaker of the country’s parliament and head and members of the workers’ Union.
