Deputy FM briefs ambassadors on President Al-Assad’s plan

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry has began international and regional communications about the political plan laid out by President Bashar Al-Assad on January, 6th, 2013. 

Deputy Foreign Minister, Dr.Faisal al-Meqdad, met on Thursday accredited ambassadors, diplomatic missions, Heads of UN Offices and International Red Cross in Syria, SANA reported.

The meeting comes within the framework of implementing the cabinet’s program that delegates Foreign and Expatriates Ministry to contact with international and regional sides.

Al-Meqdad explained to the participant in the meeting the main ideas of the political plan, stressing Syria has adopted the course of political solution since the beginning of the crisis, and took its responsibility for combatting terrorism as part of its international and national duties.

“The political plan meets the Syrian people’s aspirations and the government’s directives to sort the crisis out through comprehensive national dialogue and an integral plan to build a democratic Syria that enjoys political pluralism and press freedom,” al-Meqdada said.     

He noted the fierce media campaigns being launched against Syria after announcing the political plan proves the real goals of the countries that seek to shred Syria’s unity.

Al-Meqdad appealed to the participants to brief their countries and organization about the significance of the plan after analyzing it logically and far away from distortion made by some countries backed by Gulf States, some Western countries and the US to implement the conspiracy against Syria.

He handed the participant copies of the political plan besides documents that Syria addressed to the UN Security Council in this regard.
