Demonstration and sit-ins in Australia and Spain in solidarity with the Palestinian people

The Australian city of Sydney witnessed a demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian people, while the Australian police attacked the participants and arrested 23 of them.

Australian media reported that about 400 people gathered at Botany port to protest the arrival of an “Israeli” cargo ship, calling for an end to the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Video clips on social media showed the police assaulting them and   forcibly dragging the activists sitting on the ground, and arresting others.

Australia had previously witnessed many demonstrations rejecting the barbaric Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the government’s stand  in support of the Israeli occupation.

In a related context, activists staged a sit-in inside the train and subway station (Sun Gate) in the Spanish capital, Madrid, in support of the Palestinian people and to demand the severing of relations with the Israeli entity.

A spokesman from the Anti-Capitalism Organization, which called for this sit-in, pointed out that after the number of martyrs in Palestine exceeded 14,000, the European Union and Western governments continue to support the occupation government in the face of the  opposition of millions of Europeans to it.

Activists participating in the sit-in from various Spanish organizations called on their country’s government to sever relations with the Israeli occupation, and raised Palestinian flags, chanting slogans demanding an end to the genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.
