Demographic map of Homs Governorate Discussed

Homs, (ST)-The National Plan of Housing and the Future Vision of the Reconstruction Situation in Homs Governorate  were  among the most important points that discussed during the meeting which has been recently held between Homs Governor, Talal Al-Barazi and the Director of the Regional Planning Authority, Eng. Mary Al-Tali and her accompanying technical team..

Director of the Regional Planning Authority, explained that the aim of the project is to achieve a balanced urban development on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic in accordance with the framework of integrated urban recovery through a set of policies, programs and plans in line with the directives of a regional planning by studying the relationship of urban development with the other sectors,  stressing that: “One of the most important outputs that focused on the map of damage and the affected areas in accordance with the national.

 Mrs. Al-Tali  referred to the prevailing urban reality and the associated urban communities, legislation, laws and mechanisms of implementation and follow-up in addition to the population growth and the damage caused by the war, whether physical or related to demographic displacement

He tressed the importance of coordination and cooperation between ministries and concerned authorities  to achieve the desired results, indicating that the most critical  problems facing the work is that some data are incomplete or false .

Talking  about the experience of the province of Homs in the draft map, she  pointed out that the organizational chart of the city of Homs according to the general data does not suffer any organizational or urban problems without counting the decrease in the population as a result of the war, stressing   that three areas of the province were selected to be focused on  during work because of their  location on the development axes of East-West: the city of Homs, al-Qaryeten and Hassia.

For his part, the Governor of Homs pointed out the importance of the project in achieving urban development, especially that the residential sector is one of the sectors that seriously affected by the war. Therefore, the project can provide outputs that contribute to reconstruction according to the correct planning and development principles, thus facilitating the safe return of the population.

He indicated the importance of separation during the work on the ground between the existing areas and areas to be created, stressing the importance of going to the countryside in the process of planning for the richness of these areas by choosing certain models in the village or choose a village as a full model.
