Democrats wins majority of  Senate’s midterm congressional elections

The Democratic Party won the seat it needed to retain control of the Senate, a victory that US President Joe Biden greatly needed.

According to American television channels, it was announced on Saturday that Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto in Nevada has defeated Adam Laxalt, the candidate backed by former President Donald Trump.

With her re-election, the number of Democrats elected in the Senate will rise to fifty out of 100, allowing Biden’s party to control this House, given that the likely vote belongs to Vice President Kamala Harris.

This comes at a time when it seems that Republicans are close to win the majority in the House of Representatives, as they have so far obtained 211 seats compared to 204 seats for Democrats.

This comes while the counting has not ended in about twenty polling stations, mainly in California, and once the political scene in the House of Representatives and Senate crystallizes, attention will turn to the year 2024 in light of the possibility of Trump announcing his candidacy for the presidential elections, according to one of his close advisers.
