Defense Minister visits army units in Damascus western Countryside

Damascus – Upon the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the army and armed forces, President Bashar al-Assad, and in commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of Syrian Arab army Day,  Defense Minister Fahd Jassem al-Freij paid a field visit Monday to a number of army positions in Damascus western Countryside, SANA reported.

Major General al-Freij met soldiers at their positions and conveyed President al-Assad’s amity and appreciation of their sacrifices and efforts to defend the homeland and protect its borders.

He also inspected the level of combat readiness of soldiers to perform their duties and missions and the procedures taken to preserve security and stability in safe areas, highly appreciating their high morals.

 The Defense Minister hailed the Syrian army’s key national and pan-Arab role in supporting the Resistance and defending the Arab Nation and its just causes, particularly against the Israeli enemy and its terrorist tools.

He also appreciated the steadfastness and determination of Syrian army in confronting terrorist organizations backed by regimes and countries whose main goal is to undermine Syria’s state and people.

In turn, the soldiers stressed readiness to offer their blood and souls for the sake of restoring security and stability to their country.
