Defense Minister visits army units in Damascus Countryside

Damascus Countryside – Upon the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the army and armed forces-President Bashar al-Assad, Defense Minister Fahd Jassem al-Freij paid a field visit Thursday to units of the army working in Damascus south-eastern Countryside, SANA reported.

During the field tour, Major General al-Freij met soldiers at their positions and conveyed President al-Assad’s appreciation and pride of their heroism, sacrifices and great achievements in the war against terrorism.

Al-Freij was briefed by field officers on the nature of combatant tasks performed by the Syrian army forces and the volume of success achieved and areas restored by the armed forces, hailing the efforts exerted by soldiers and officers to defend the homeland.

“Our battle against terrorism is continuous and the terrorist scheme against Syria is collapsing and retreating thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people who rallied around their army and leadership as well as the support provided by the friendly countries, particularly Russia, Iran and the Lebanese Resistance,” said al-Freij.

He wishes the soldiers to have a successful mission in performing their tasks to hunt terrorist groups and eliminate their remnants.

 In turn, the soldiers stressed determination and readiness to sacrifice their souls in defending the country and restoring security and stability to all Syrian territories.
